Saga Gitane D-500

This Gitane made me smile every time I played it. It had an incredible volume and nice gipsy tone when played with a heavy pick. It was my first gipsy guitar. This Saga is the best value for money for a gipsy-jazz starter (see reviews), nicely positioned between the low-end Richwood ($300) and high-end luthier guitars ($3,000). I bought this one in december 2006 second-hand from TFOA after a tip from Cok van Vuuren with whom I played in the Beau Hunks. I sold this Saga in 2015 as my Eimers Antique had replaced it.

The D-500 features a Solid Sitka spruce top with traditional large D-shaped soundhole, neck joint at the 12th fret, Santos rosewood back and sides, low profile mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, a traditional brass tailpiece and an ebony compensated mustache bridge.
